The Factories and Boilers Department is taking a revolutionary step to ensure the safety and health of lakhs of workers in the state's industrial sector. 'K-SAFE' (K-SAFE - Kerala Spatial Administration for Factory Enforcement) is a comprehensive geospatial digital governance system being implemented for the first time in India to take Kerala towards the 'Vision Zero' goal of no industrial accidents. This project is the embodiment of the government's vision that Kerala identifies industrial development not just with economic growth figures, but also with worker welfare.

The Factories and Boilers Department is initiating a revolutionary step to ensure the safety and health of lakhs of workers employed in the state's industrial sector.

It operates by integrating every factory and boiler in the state into a digital map. Through this, factory records are transitioning from mere paper files to a 'living map'. Through the FAB-GIS web portal created for this purpose, each industrial unit will be clearly identifiable on the map. This enables officers to analyze the nature of industries and hazard profiles at their fingertips.

When accidents like fires or chemical leaks occur, this system will help notify relevant authorities in real-time with location details. It links emergency services such as Fire & Rescue, Police, Health Department, etc., in a single chain through SMS, WhatsApp, and voice calls. Additionally, if tankers meet with accidents on highways, K-SAFE will assist in determining safe buffer zones through special analysis and promptly evacuating nearby residential areas.

Factory owners can digitally update their establishment's safety arrangements, and officers can record field inspections via a mobile app. Kerala is shifting from a mere law-enforcement inspection system to an advanced governance model that uses technology for predictive prevention by identifying accidents in advance. Through the implementation of this ultra-modern system, Kerala is once again setting an example for the country in transparent and rapid digital governance.

Kerala's journey towards the 'Vision Zero' goal becomes even more secure through this project. 'K-SAFE' will play a crucial role in building a new Kerala that is industry-friendly and worker-safe. This digital safety shield, capable of identifying risks before accidents occur and preventing disasters beforehand, is a major safety assurance given by the government to every worker in Kerala.
