This was set up in 1984 under the ILO/ UNDP Project. In the wake of Bhopal gas disaster, on the direction and assistance of the Central Govt., the F&B department was implementing two plan schemes namely “Industrial Hygiene Laboratories’’ and “Safety and Health Accident Reduction Action (SAHARA) Plan’’. Subsequently the plan schemes were combined under the project name ‘Industrial Hygiene & Hazard Control Action (IH& HCA) Plan’ in 1991-1992 during the VIIIth Five year plan. This was followed by the ‘ Occupational Safety and Health Action (OSHA) Plan ’ in the IXth Five year Plan and is continuing in the Xth Five year plan also.
