IBOILER ATTENDANTS COMPETENCY EXAMINATION-2006 |
| Instructions to the Candidates |
| 1. |
Applications for the Boiler Attendants Competency Examination First Class/Second Class shall be submitted by the eligible candidates in the prescribed form. |
| 2. |
Eligibility |
| (a) |
For Second Class Examination: |
|
(i) |
Candidates should have completed 20 years of age on the last date for submitting applications as notified in the Gazette. |
|
(ii) |
Passed S.S.L.C Examination or its equivalent qualification. |
|
(iii) |
Served for not less than 3 years in the capacity of Fireman or an Assistant Fireman or an Assistant to a Boiler Attendant on a registered steam boiler. |
(OR) |
Completed a 3 year course of study of which one year shall be as an apprentice in the Operation of Boiler(s) in a steam power plant or boiler house in a factory and produces from the Head of the Industrial or Technical Institution a Certificate to that effect. |
| (b) |
For First Class Examination: |
|
(i) |
Completed 21 years of age on the last date for submitting application as notified in the Gazette. |
|
(ii) |
Obtained Second Class Certificate of Competency, and served as Boiler Attendant for not less than two years after obtaining the Certificate in the working charge of a registered Boiler/Battery of Boilers whose heating surface is not less than 50M2. |
(OR) |
| A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering and one year apprenticeship/service in the operation and maintenance of a registered Boiler/Battery of Boilers whose heating surface is not less than 50M2. |
(OR) |
| Completed 3 year course of training of which one year shall be as an apprentice in steam power plant of a mill or factory, in Boiler Attendance Trade after obtaining Second Class Certificate of competency. |
| 3. |
The following documents shall be submitted along with the completed application. |

(a) |
Self attested copy of the Certificate in proof of Age (School Certificate) |
|
(b) |
Experience Certificate in original in the prescribed Form. |
|
(c) |
Experience certificate in respect of a candidate appearing for the examination who is working in a factory/who had been working a factory situated within the state of Kerala shall be get countersigned by the Inspector of factories & boilers/joint Director of Factories & Boilers having jurisdiction over the area |

(d) |
Certificate of conduct in original in the prescribed Form. |

(e) |
Treasury Chalan in original towards the remittance of prescribed fees. |
|
(f) |
Self attested copy of the certificate of qualification. |
|
(g) |
Four copies of the recent passport size photograph (51mm X 57mm)
which shall bear Name and Signature/Thumb Impression of the candidate on the back. |

Original of the Certificate which are not submitted along with the application shall be produced at the time of Examination. |
| 5. |
The prescribed fee for the First Class is Rs.100/- and that for the Second Class id Rs.50/-. The fee should be remitted in the Kerala Government Treasury under Head of Account “0230-00-800-96”. Other mode of remittance will not be accepted. Fees once paid shall not be refunded on any account. |

The last date of receipt of completed application is 5P.M on 20-10-2006. Late applications will not be considered. |

Application completed in all respects should reach the “Secretary, Board of Examiners, office of the Director of Factories and Boilers, TC 27/1079, East Gate of District Court, Vanchiyoor P.O, Thiruvananthapuram-35. |
| 8. |
The signature of the candidate in Division IV of the application Form A should be attested by a Gazetted Officer/Manager of the factory under Factories Act. |
| 9. |
The experience certificate in respect of candidates appearing from outside Kerala should be got attested by Chief inspector of Boilers of the concerned State/Union Territory. The experience certificate from outside the country should be got attested by the Indian Embassy in that country where they are working. |
| 10. |
Candidates appearing for the examination shall refer Kerala Boiler Attendants Rules, 1957 and also Kerala Boiler Attendants (Amendment) Rules 2001 for syllabus and other relevant details. Copies are available for reference in all Sub Offices of the Department of Factories and Boilers. |
| 11. |
An aptitude written test in English/Malayalam will be conducted for the candidates appearing for Second Class and First Class Boiler Attendants Examination in addition to the Oral and Practical Test. |
| 12. |
The exact date, time and venue of Examination will be notified to the candidates individually through Hall ticket. |
